Super mini’s don’t come much better value than the Fiesta - a British favourite and still delivering great style, value and  driving experience

The current model gets it right almost every step of the way, on-trend colour choices, plenty of stock (unlike long waiting times from some competitors for the same size car), superb interior styling, and - as always from Ford - the best of engine quality in both petrol or diesel choices.

The perennial mid-range favourite is the Zetec and the 1.25 engine gives all and more if you want a great value 3 or 5dr hatch. You head into speedier territory with the 1.4 or go mad in a 1.6 on the sporty Zetec S or Titanium trims.

Ford really try to deliver a Fiesta for everyone and this range does it best starting at the entry level budget conscious Studio but even that gets ESP and a single cd player/AUX in socket, the Style which adds thing like powered heated door mirrors, driver seat height adjust and power front windows.
Moving through Edge (and aircon is standard starting here), Zetec with alloys & front fogs, Zetec S (gets 16 inch alloys, side skirts, quickclear screen, sports suspension etc) and Titanium which adds frills like cruise control, privacy glass, auto wipers/lights and Sony DAB radio.

Economy is everything you want, with a 1.25 82ps engine delivering around 50mpg on a combined fuel cycle and the 1.4 96ps is close at around 48mpg combined cycle.

Head into diesel territory and you’ll be spoilt with the 1.4TDCI 70ps delivering around 68mpg combined cycle (owners report perhaps closer to 60pg is more realistic) or the Econetic diesels delivering closer to 75mpg combined cycle.

The drive quality is all you’d expect from Ford’s best hatch and more, agile and powerful - this feels like a car from premium brand territory. Road noise is minimal - a real achievement for a car in this price bracket

Ford have really thought about the modern car driver with the Fiesta, all the kit and add-ons you want whether you are an ipod junkie or simply like some added comfort and dash refinement.

The driver seat adjustment spectrum is wide for a car of this size, giving you comfort on long journeys. Headroom in the rear seats is generous for tall adults but kneeroom a little tighter than ideal.

Fiesta perfectionists would always go with the looks of the 3door, but the 5door is the answer to every family’s needs with kids and shopping.

Fiesta may not be the rock bottom budget car these days but in terms of value, it’s hard to top.
